New Blog

I'm really excited for this new blog we've got together - me and G that is. I'm not going to go all GaGa and talk about our planned world domination etc etc. But we do plan to be more successful bloggers than we are currently. We'll be taking pictures of people on the streets of London, and the rest of the world, who have great style. No posts yet but many to come...

Lady in Leopard (print), Oxford

Me and G couldn't resist this photo opportunity today. A woman on her way to work who clearly loves her leopard print. I think a part of everyone does, but most of us don't make it this obvious. I don't think she's particularly stylish but it's definitely a "look", and a brave one at that. You go girl!
I love the fact the person in front of us had a leopard print bag too!

Here's a close up of her shoes

And the Lady herself, in action

Let's talk about cake

Violet cakes in particular. Claire Ptak, famed for her sell-out cupcakes on East London's Broadway Market has recently (really recently - last Saturday) opened her very own cake shop on Wilton Way, Hackney. Even if you don't know Claire, you may know her cakes. Or her cake company, Violet. And if you don't know either, you're missing out. Claire's new bakery has it's own kitchen, so you're guaranteed fresh-as-it-gets food. And a lovely upstairs eating space, as well as a sweet downstairs one. It's not somewhere you'd be likely to travel miles to visit (it's in the middle of residential Hackney) but I sincerely recommend you do. If Violet's Coconut Cream layer cake, Flourless Chocolate cake or any-flavour-you-can-imagine cupcakes can't convince you, I don't know what will. Except the welcoming staff and delicious coffee, of course. You won't be disappointed, even by the filter coffee, which I noticed one woman's face drop over (she then proceeded to drink it with an ear to ear grin, saying "Gosh, this is lovely coffee" after every sip). So come on down and stuff yo faces - actually don't; enjoy every bite - especially of the adorable mini cupcakes. Violet is open Wednesday to Saturday til 5 for now. And don't be too late, it's already pretty popular.

Next, the latest ad

Jon Kortajarena, search that shit. SO fit - might recognise him from A Single Man or any Tom Ford ads he's in. You can spot him at the petrol station in sunglasses and with the blonde model (Amy Hixson)

Watch it! X

Wah Nails @ Johnnie B

Last night I went to the launch party of Johnnie B, the new line from Boden. Apart from having Daisy Dares You DJing, they had a photobooth complete with a hilarious dressing up box, and (best of all) WAH Nails. It was well worth the hour-long queue to get my nails done in blue/black leopard print with pink gems! And I loved watching everyone else's too - kind of inspired me to train as a nail technician, but I don't think that'll happen. So in order of appearance - Elsie, Ray, Tabby and me:

Sucks that most of the pictures came out really yellow...Check out the Johnnie B Spring/Summer collection and the WAH Nails blog. X

Uh-Oh

It's official. I want a pair of clogs. Be them Miu Miu, Chanel, or...actually just those please. There are many reasons I not only want, but need, a pair and that's no exaggeration. Coming in at 5 foot nil (HA. HA) it'd be nice to gain a few inches without wearing stilts or something ridiculous (which you might argue clogs are). However, you will soon be converted when met with either of the said pairs. Secondly, they are BEAUTIFUL, especially the Miu Miu ones because you've gotta love this season's silk prints. Perfection. And thirdly they're less than a pair of Louboutins and likely to last much longer due to their sturdy, hard-wearing nature. Case closed.

Trust them to be sold out at Net-a-Porter, and probably everywhere.

NW3

And no, not the area but Hobbs' relatively new 'younger' collection. Once you get over the concept - which is that middle-aged Hobbs-trotters bring their 20-something year old daughters shopping, spot the NW3 collection, fall in love with it and simultaneously decide to splash out on their little darlings (Named NW3 after the wealthy North London mothers who are expected to have the cash to drown their children in these clothes) - I like it. When I first saw it I thought it was a little Marc by Marc Jacobs but it's been changing considerably season to season - maintaining an innocent and pretty look every time, but less M by MJ at the moment. My favourites?
Denim jodhpurs - they're basically your average skinny jean but with zips at the bottom etc.

I particularly love these mint green shorts, but the 'dove print' on the others is sweet

And I knew this would happen - there I am all anti-clog this and 'I hate clogs' that, and within a month I'm a convert. These are great because Marni's were a bit OTT for everyday but I think you could just about get away with these...maybe not

A bit prim and proper for a jumpsuit..but it could work

I love the subtle stripes on this top

And finally, the jewellery. The daisies on this studded leather cuff make it oh-so-feminine. Cute. And I don't think you could go wrong with gold acorns; they're like squirrel treasure round your neck.

I hate to say a lamb dressed as mutton aspect still remains in some of the clothing, but I'm sure that'll ease out in time while they adjust to designing younger pieces.
